Job Description

Traveling Architectural Interior Designer

Kari Whitman Interiors is an upscale interior design-build firm known for its creativity and innovative design solutions in both the residential and commercial worlds. We're seeking an experienced Architectural Interior Designer to join our team that has strong skills in high-end commercial and/or residential design-builds and is very comfortable using AutoCAD, Revit or Rhino. The person in this role will enjoy traveling 10 days per month to our Boulder, CO office and will be involved with projects both in Los Angeles and Boulder. If you would rather fully relocate to Colorado from Los Angeles for this role, we are open to that as well and minimal travel would be required in that circumstance.

As an Architectural Interior Designer you will be engaged in all aspects of projects from initial concept to the final walkthrough. A strong passion for design and enthusiasm for the creative process are crucial for success in this role. You should be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit or Rhino and Google Drive, confident in your ability to create boards, drawings, and FF&E schedules, and comfortable acting as a liaison with vendors and subcontractors.

This is NOT a remote or hybrid position—We have a collaborative environment and work together in the office. When in Los Angeles, you will work from our Laurel Canyon office, and when in Colorado, you will work from our Boulder office.

Duties of Architectural Interior Designer:

  • Handling general architecture and design responsibilities like drafting in AutoCAD, Revit or Rhino, creating boards, FFE’s, etc
  • Coordinating design, construction, timelines, and budgets for multiple projects
  • Serving as a liaison to vendors & sub-contractors
  • Some general office operations, including phones, filing, and running errands as needed
  • Managing and having thorough knowledge of all items within client files like specifications, meeting notes, etc.

Requirements for Senior Architectural Interior Designer:

  • Must be willing to travel to Colorado 10 days per month (we are also open to relocation if desired)
  • Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • 5+ years of experience in architectural design
  • Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD, Revit, or Rhino skills (Non-negotiable; a software skills assessment is required prior to an offer)
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
  • Design-build experience including permitting
  • Self-driven work ethic with the ability to follow through on pending items, anticipate questions, and create solutions
  • Strong organizational skills, including efficiency
  • Discretion with confidential client and business information
  • Must have own laptop and vehicle
  • Willingness to travel locally, domestically and internationally
  • Comfortable in a dog-friendly office
  • Must be willing to work fully in-office (no remote work)

Compensation for Architectural Designer:

  • $75,000-$90,000/year to start depending on experience
  • Regular opportunities for bonuses and raises dependent on performance
  • Salary commensurate with experience

Hours:

  • Monday-Friday
  • 10am-7pm
