Director of Carrier Partnership - UPS

Department: Product / Carrier Relations

Location: Salt Lake City Office / Remote Considered

Reports To: Chief Product Officer

Summary of Responsibilities

The Director of Carrier Partnership – UPS is responsible for overseeing and managing InXpress’ business performance with UPS. Responsibilities include being accountable for UPS top line revenue & margin growth, carrier development, expansion of UPS products and services, financial performance, managing carrier expectations, and achieving yearly growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 to relationship manager to UPS Director of Marketing | Reseller Channel key contact and other UPS units such as UPS Capital
  • Manage and negotiate InXpress/UPS agreements:
  • On-going discussions with UPS on key items
  • Identify major changes sought by InXpress and UPS
  • Establish optimal and minimal acceptable outcomes
  • Work with InXpress legal and Executive Leadership team on new language as required
  • Ensure on-going adherence/compliance to agreements; resolve conflicts and rules of engagement thru collaboration
  • Support franchise network with customer specific UPS pricing strategies and work with UPS on customer specific pricing
  • Continue to develop 3 deep x 3 wide relationships between UPS and InXpress
  • Develop complete UPS product mix of DDAP, DAP, Ground, Air, Next Day Air, Economy Ground Saver
  • Benchmark USA pricing performance within product mix to ensure market competitiveness
  • Creation of content for marketing and operations that communicates key changes to products and services as required
  • Ensure InXpress franchisees receive a single point of contact for problem resolution, specifically around international, brokerage operations and related issue support
  • Coach and develop internal team members, ensuring they have the tools, experience, and environment they require to be successful and clear hurdles with UPS key contacts
  • Support USA finance team with developing and maintaining SOPs specific to DAP rebates
  • Work with invoice resolution team and carrier development for root cause analysis and quality improvement to ensure continuous improvement regarding invoicing accuracy as required
  • Serve as knowledge hub for the UPS vertical for InXpress Franchises and internal customers
  • Support UPS specific questions for potential franchisee targets as required (new signing franchise)
  • Train on UPS as required at annual convention to sales network (updates, new products, processes, etc.)

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain relationships with InXpress sales, UPS key stakeholders and operations leadership
  • Responsible for KPIs related to UPS performance in the USA (top line revenue, margin, shipment count)
  • Responsible for customer loyalty performance metrics specific to all UPS USA product lines
  • Ensure longevity of UPS contract and reseller products and services

Key Qualifications

Based on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Director is required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in the domestic USA parcel industry at a parcel carrier or in a parcel brokerage preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in management of individual contributors preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in a customer support role, preferably in the parcel industry preferred

Physical and Environmental

The Director of Carrier Partnership - UPS role is primarily located in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise level but may experience other physical environments while traveling. Physical requirements include:

  • Using computer hardware and software for extended periods of time
  • Hosting and joining virtual calls throughout course of day to support sales network
  • Ability to travel domestically in the United States as required (less than quarterly typical) and to UPS Atlanta HQ as required for meetings
