Job Description

Summary

LesserEvil is an innovative, healthy-snacks brand looking to add a full-time Plant Manager to our team. In this position, you will manage plant operations to ensure all key objectives and metrics are met on a daily basis. A successful candidate for this role is someone with experience both managing a production facility and leading/developing a team.

The schedule for this position is generally 7:30 AM-4 PM, but with the nature of a 24-hour facility, there are times when earlier/later hours are necessary. The expectation is that this role has a presence on 2nd and 3rd shifts at least 1 hour per shift per week. This individual will report to the VP of Operations.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Monitoring key performance metrics to maximize production efficiency while maintaining the highest level of quality
  • Setting the tone and expectation of safety performance for the facility. Owning corrective actions from safety events.
  • Creating and delivering accountability throughout the facility by establishing and communicating clear expectations for every position type and administering discipline when necessary in alignment with HR.
  • Ensuring the plant operations are meeting key workplace objectives including but not limited to safety, employee engagement, and employee development
  • Working with the Maintenance and Sanitation managers to ensure the facility and equipment are properly maintained with appropriate maintenance/cleaning schedules being followed and downtime is minimized
  • Ownership and communication in weekly staffing venue of site staffing needs and new hire training plans. Complete interviews for new staff members.
  • Continuous improvement project execution and ongoing training needs
  • Production schedule adherence and communication
  • Ensure team is completing accurate production recordkeeping
  • Ownership of site downtime metric across 3 shifts and development of methods to reduce downtime and increase throughput while maintaining food safety and quality standards
  • Development, mentorship and ongoing training of supervisory staff
  • Supporting R&D test runs as needed
  • Communicating with other functions as needed to solve problems (warehouse, transportation, procurement, production planning)
  • Effectively strategizing and planning to keep employee morale and engagement high, especially during times of change
  • Ensuring the facility is audit ready at all times including safety and food safety.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned and special projects as designated.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of Plant Management experience in a food manufacturing facility
  • Exceptional knowledge of food safety requirements in a food manufacturing facility
  • Excellent communication skills -- must be able to communicate and relate to the general workforce effectively and be savvy to the nuances of effective employee relations
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Gmail

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work in Danbury, CT
  • Must have a reliable vehicle as daily trips between factory, warehouse, and office may be necessary
