R&D Catalysis Laboratory Technician

Location: Bryan, TX (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on R&D Catalysis Laboratory Technician to support research and development efforts focused on catalytic processes and renewable fuel technologies.

This role works closely with scientists and engineers to execute experimental reactor campaigns, perform laboratory analyses, and maintain efficient day-to-day lab operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in both laboratory and pilot-scale environments.

Key Responsibilities

Reactor & Experimental Support

• Assist with setup, operation, monitoring, and shutdown of catalytic reactor systems
• Support catalyst loading/unloading, feed preparation, and system safety checks
• Collect and manage liquid, gas, and solid samples during experiments
• Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of reactor systems and instrumentation

Analytical & Laboratory Support

• Conduct laboratory analyses using techniques such as GC-MS, titrations, and wet chemistry methods
• Prepare reagents, solvents, standards, and calibration materials
• Assist with calibration, maintenance, and verification of analytical instruments
• Review and verify data for accuracy and completeness

Data & Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of experimental data, observations, and results
• Enter and validate data in laboratory systems and databases
• Support preparation of reports and summaries for research activities

Laboratory Operations

• Maintain inventory of chemicals, gases, and laboratory supplies
• Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of materials
• Keep laboratory workspaces clean, organized, and audit-ready
• Coordinate sample shipments and documentation as needed

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety protocols, SOPs, and environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Support compliance with quality systems and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
• 0–3 years of laboratory experience in R&D, chemical, or process development environments
• Experience with catalysis, chemical reactors, or pilot-scale systems preferred
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort working with lab equipment
• Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols precisely
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment

• Laboratory and pilot-scale industrial setting
• Occasional need for weekend or holiday coverage based on research schedules
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
• Work involves handling chemicals and operating technical equipment
